Spring is here and the weather is warming up nicely and means it is time to check the hives. We check the hives to see how survived over the winter months. We like to wait until the daytime temperatures have become stable and there is no frost or freeze warnings. The hives need to say a constant temperature and exposing the bees too much cooler temperatures can harm the hive.
Mr. BRV suited up to see how they were doing. He doesn’t normally suit up, however they are a bit more agitated when they haven’t been worked with since the temperatures dropped in the Fall. The neighbors near the hives are not so sure about being outside when Mr. BRV is checking them.
This is a new hive to us and Mr. BRV was brave and captured a swarm that landed on our property. As you can see they have started to make comb and is a great start for making honey. You have probably guessed by now these little ladies are not happy with him.
This is the moment of truth, honey or no honey started…..what will it be?
Looks like the answer will be….Yes we will have honey. The ladies have a great start and are doing well.
These ladies are hard workers and can you believe these little creatures help with crop production and create a deliciously sweet treat all for us. These are definitely amazing creatures.
It is great to see nature at work and produce such wonderful things for all of us to enjoy. Can’t wait to enjoy some honey later on in the season. It is natures gold.
What is your favorite thing to enjoy that nature provides?
