Since we are getting a break in the weather, we decided to venture out this weekend for a little get away. Also, since Spring has finally sprung it gave us an even better reason to see what Mother Nature had begun to do.
The Blue Ridge Mountains and the Great Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina are breathtaking and they are in my backyard. I love to visit the parkway and see all of the changes of the seasons. This weekend the sun would not grace our presence and the clouds were in abundance, however the temperatures were mild and it gave us an opportunity to take in the sites. As you can see from my picture above not much has begun to change towards Spring, but the beauty will begin to arrive at this altitude soon.
The creeks are full and flowing fast due to all of the snow and rain from winter.
The waterfalls are a little slower than the creeks, but they are getting there.
When the leaves return these areas are so green and lush……it won’t be too much longer now.
With the coming of Spring brings has the Elk moving out in the open. These are some of the calves from last fall enjoying a little rest before heading back up the mountain.
Don’t you just want to take him home?
They are such beautiful creatures and I am so amazed each time I see one. The bulls are no where to be seen right now, but they will be coming out soon and making their presence known.
The Forsythia are getting ready to be in full bloom. I took this one in my neighbors yard.
I am as proud of what God has blessed us with in nature as. I believe I live in a very special place with an abundance of beauty to share with everyone. I will continue to bring you pictures of my Blue Ridge Mountains. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
What special places do you have where you live?
