Soil pH is a very important part of growing, no matter what type of garden you are growing…..

Vegetable, Flower, Fruit, Shade or Full Sun.

Since the spring growing season is vastly approaching and you haven’t seen or prepared your soil since last growing season it’s time to ramp up on your pH skills.

You probably know what the pH level to the human body is however; you may not be familiar with soil pH for your gardening.

The Colorado State University Extension defines Soil pH as…..

Soil pH is a measurement of the acidity or alkalinity of a soil.  On the pH scale, 7.0 is neutral. Below 7.0 acid, and above 7.0 is basic or alkaline.  A pH range of 6.8 to 7.2 is termed near neutral.   [Read more…]

Time To Think Spring For Seeds and Planting…..

Yes………It is time to put the winter on hold for a bit and think a head to Spring.

        I know there is more winter in store for some and a lot more for others.

However, one way to get my mind off of the snow, sleet, wind, and bitter temperatures is to receive a Spring seed catalog in the mail.  I look forward to them every year and feel like a kid looking for toys at Christmas.  There is an abundance of catalogs to choose from these days.  These catalogs offer a range of seeds from traditional, heirloom, organic, open-pollinated, hybrid.  Many of the seeds that are offered in the catalogs are not only from the United States, but from around the world. Replacing a broken or damaged peephole…..

I have been faced with a situation that a peephole needs to be replaced.

Now this may sound like an easy task to get checked off of the “To Do List” very quickly, however since it does seem like it is an easy task it gets pushed to the bottom of the list.  There are other things in our house that are bigger projects to tackle and are seemingly more important.

These include…….unclogging the kitchen sink, securing a loose step, finish painting, and cleaning the leaves out of the gutters.

This project is way over due and it is up to me to get this one done and off of the list.  I am up for this challenge and I don’t think it will be too difficult. [Read more…]
